Tras una temporada bastante mala, las series de televisión han resurgido como el ave Fénix. Los programas que hoy se producen se han vuelto referentes culturales y han llegado a todo el mundo, gracias a plataformas de streaming.
De hecho, gracias a la calidad de sus contenidos y al trabajo de actores y directores, muchas de las series actuales pueden igualarse a los grandes clásicos de la historia de la televisión (estadounidense, por supuesto)
Para probar este punto, la revista Rolling Stone entrevistó a decenas de críticos, productores de televisión y a una que otra figura representativa del medio del espectáculo, para elaborar la lista de las 100 mejores series de todos los tiempos.
En el ranking aparecen títulos clásicos, como Twilight Zone, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Star Treck, Friends, Buffy the Vampire Slayer y The Wonder Years; así como algunas producciones recientes que han roto récords de audiencia, como Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Mad Men y Orange is the New Black.
Sin embargo, The Sopranos, la serie que protagonizara James Gandolfini durante ocho años, y en la que se abordaban los conflictos de la mafia italiana que operaba en Nueva York.
